Rodney Ray Sims, 52, died Sunday, May 21, 2017 surrounded by his family at his mother's home in Ponder. His memory will live on through his family and children and the many impressions he made upon the lives of his friends and loved ones.

Rodney was born on January 25, 1965 in Dallas to Glenn Ray and Linda Laverne (Wellborn) Kirkham. He is survived by Ashton Sims of Denton; Trevor Sims of Denton; mother, Linda Laverne Law of Ponder; sisters, Kimberly Howard of Denton, Davanna Gillespie of Ponder; brother, David Michael Kirkham of Mesquite.

Rod was known mostly for his love of his favorite band RUSH. Which also had a big impact on his family and friends, as he would always play their music and recite their lyrics.

We know now that "time stands still" and we are all "closer to the heart".
