Rochelle L. Matthews, 86, of Denton, died Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at Presbyterian Hospital of Denton. She was born January 11, 1922 in Olney, TX to Luke and Bessie Mae (Cheek) Lee. She was married to Jesse Truett Matthews on August 11, 1945 in Ithaca, NY and he died December 19, 2004. She was a graduate of Baylor University in English and Bible (double Major, and her Masters from TWU in English and Literature. She was a retired Teacher from the International Business School, and worked at the First Baptist Church for Fourteen Years. She is a member of the First Baptist Church, and a long time member of the Rebecca Class Sunday School.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, March 20, 2008 in the Cindy Nichols Chapel of the First Baptist Church, 1100 Malone St. Denton, with Rev. Cliff Feeler, officiating. Burial will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Park. The family will be at the Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton for visitation from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 19, 2008

Mrs. Matthews is survived by daughters and sons in law Sandra and Jeff LaQuey, of Aubrey, Marilyn and James Aven, of Denton, and a son Jimmy Matthews, of Denton, a nephew Aaron and Jane Thomas, of Waco, and seven Grandchildren, Joshua Matthews, Tanner Matthews, Jesse Mann, Meagan LaQuey, Heather Lopez, Hannah Akin, and Holli Mills, and five great grandchildren.
