Robin Lynn (Burnes) Thomas, 48, of Decatur, passed away on August 2, 2026, after a battle with cancer while surrounded by family.

Robin was born in Decatur, TX on April 22, 1978, to Cleo and Billie May Cross Burnes.

Robin dedicated her life to her family and the Denton County community.

She met her husband, Joey in 1995 and they were married on May 11, 1996. Robin found immeasurable joy in her family, which stood at the very core of her heart. She was a devoted wife to her husband of 30 years, and a loving mother to Mckayla and J.T. whom she supported with unwavering enthusiasm and was their biggest cheerleader. She made sure she attended every one of their games, even if it meant working longer hours the next day. She enjoyed fishing and being outdoors with her family and dog Po. Friday night date nights with Joey were one of the things she looked forward to every week. Where you saw Robin, you saw Joey.

Robin began her service with Denton County at the Juvenile Detention Center on September 8, 1999, before joining the Denton County Sheriff's Office, where she devoted more than 26 years to supporting law enforcement operations and ensuring the safety of the community.

During her exemplary career, Robin consistently demonstrated professionalism, leadership, and a commitment to excellence. She served as a Communications Officer beginning in 2003, was promoted to Communications Corporal in 2006, and advanced to Administrative Sergeant of Communications in 2007. Her leadership and expertise led to her promotion to Communications Supervisor in 2013, Senior Communications Supervisor in 2014, Communications Supervisor in 2015, and ultimately Communications Manager in 2023. Robin was a TCOLE Instructor and Communications Training Officer, and achieved certification in NENA's Center Manager Certification Program, holding the prestigious CMCP designation.

She was known to be a source of wisdom, strength and compassion for so many.

She is survived by her husband Joseph Thomas, Son J.T. Thomas of Frisco, TX and daughter Mckayla Thomas of Decatur, TX. Along with her mother Billie May Cross Burnes of Loco, OK.

She is preceded in death by her father Cleo Burnes, brothers Jackie Dale Burnes and Ronald Lee Burton, and grandmother Ruby May Cross.

Though her time here was far too short, Robin leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, compassion, and unwavering dedication to her family, friends, colleagues, and community. Her memory will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A Celebration of Life Service, open to the public, will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at 12 p.m. at Denton Bible Church, 2300 E. University Dr., Denton, TX 76209.

In accordance with Robin's wishes, those attending are respectfully invited to wear cheerful colors in celebration of a life well lived, rather than traditional dark attire.
