Bob was born September 7th, 1944 in Fargo, ND to Helen and Robert Welton Sr. He graduated from the University of North Dakota in 1967 with a degree in Civil Engineering. He was married to Judith Vraa in 1967. They moved to Akron, Ohio where Bob worked as a construction engineer. Rather than be drafted, he enlisted in the army and served as a civil engineer in Vietnam.

Bob's family meant the world to him. He was a kind, loving and generous husband and father. He was well known for his patience and his willingness to help.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Judith; his three children, Jean Holzer (Ken Harris), Jamie Ellis (Andrew), and Erik Welton; as well as his grandchildren, Drew, Lauren, Hannah and Violet and his siblings; Mike, John and Jim Welton and Jeanne Jensen.
Bob loved to golf and it brought him much joy during his entire life, including his retirement. He was well known to golf in shorts even when it was 35 degrees outside. He served as a trustee and a building committee member at Argyle United Methodist Church.
Bob died surrounded by his family who will miss him greatly, but will always be thankful for his presence and love which will surround them forever.
