M Sgt. Robert Thomas Mobley

On April 19, 2009, Robert "Tommy" Mobley won the victory and went home to be with the Lord after battling a lengthy illness. His life began on October 7, 1970 in Long Beach, CA. With his family and friends by his side, at home in Denton, TX, he walked into eternity.

Robert lived loudly 38 years of love, humility, integrity and hard work. He exampled dedication to his wife, children and family. He served his country for 18 years in the Air Force Reserve as a Security Forces Specialist and Recruiter. He was a true friend, mentor and sports enthusiast: Loved a variety of sports, competitive and yet a team player, coach and referee on many athletic fields covering many communities in Texas and Oklahoma. From the inside – out, Robert's most obvious quality was his compassion and respect for all walks of life. He was a true portrait of a caring heart. Always mindful to support his home church, Angel Tree ministry, anyone and everyone down and out, while always available to lend a helping hand to friends, co-workers, supervisors, neighbors, strangers, and family.

Robert is survived by his loving wife of 13 years, Myra R. Mobley and their two children, Stephanie M. and Joshua "Robert Thomas, Jr"; father, Robert T. Mobley, Sr.; mother, Shirley Mobley-Harris and her husband, Johnny; brothers, Brian P. Mobley and his wife, Kara; and John E. Mobley.

A visitation will be held at Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton, TX on Wednesday April 22, 2009 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be at First Christian Church, 1203 Fulton St., Denton, TX on Thursday April 23, 2009 at 10:30 AM. With Rev. John Burton, officiating.

Robert's military service overseas in Desert Storm and Desert Shield, Europe and Asia as well as his stateside Air Force Reserve and Air Force Reserve Recruiter tours will be honored at his final resting place with a full military ceremony. All are welcome to attend at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX on Thursday April 23, 2009 at 3:00 PM.
