Dr. Robert Joseph Hardin, 80, of Denton died Monday, August 16, 2010 at Presbyterian Hospital in Denton.
Dr. Hardin was born on December 18, 1929, in Ralls, Texas to J.B. and Mary Nell (Bryant) Hardin. He attended then North Texas State College (now University of North Texas), where he received his B.A. and M.A. degrees in French. Upon graduation he received a Fulbright grant for study at the University of Pau in France.
While serving in the U.S. Air Force he studied Russian at the Monterey Language Institute in California. He received a Ph.D. in French at the University of Illinois, Urbana, after which he returned to Denton, where he taught French in the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures at the University of North Texas until his retirement in 1995.
Dr. Hardin is survived by many close friends. There will be no services. Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
