Robert Bates Fowler, 61, of Denton, died Monday August 16, 2010 at Presbyterian Hospital in Denton.
Robert was born on April 26, 1949 in Denton to Donald Warren and Elizabeth Alma (Thorp) Fowler. He was married to Virginia Fae Watson on December 6, 1974 in Denton. He was a lifelong resident of Denton County and a graduate of Denton High School class of 1967. He worked for the Piggly Wiggly chain for thirty-eight years and retired as an assistant manager and was a member of the Central Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday August 20 at First Baptist Church Denton (south side of the building). A memorial service will be held at 6:00 PM Saturday August 21, 2010 at First Baptist Church Denton (sanctuary).
Mr. Fowler is survived by his wife, Virginia Fae Fowler of Denton; sons, Brandon Fowler and his wife Jennifer, Jordan Fowler and his wife, Dianne; daughter, Shannon Van Wye and her husband David; sister, Donna Rees and her husband Robert; grandchildren, William, Ashley, Ally, Brady, Emma, David, Alex, Charlie; eight nieces and five nephews; mother-in-law, Billie Watson; brothers-in-law, Bob Watson and his wife Jackie, Brian Watson and his wife Lee Anne. Robert was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Fowler Lee, parents, Betty and Don Fowler; step-mother, Mary Jo Fowler; father-in-law, Frank Watson; great nephew, Gavin Watson.
Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
