Robert "Bob" David Clardy

Robert (Bob) David Clardy, 87, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2023, in Denton, Texas, with his daughter Eva and his faithful dog Midnight by his side. He was born on December 15, 1936, in Athens, Texas, to Pauline (Polly) White Clardy and Gordon Clardy.

On April 23, 1955, Bob married Georgia Mae Ray, and they had one child named Cathy Taff. After their separation, Bob found love again and married Etta Mae Glover on April 26, 1958. Together, they had three children: David Clardy, Karen Clardy Stevens, and Eva Clardy Reeder.

Bob is survived by his daughters, Cathy Clardy Taff and Eva Clardy Reeder, and his son, David Clardy. He was a beloved grandfather and great-grandfather, cherished by his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Throughout his life, Bob embarked on various careers, leaving a mark in each field. He proudly served as an Airman 2nd Class in the U.S. Air Force, continuing his family's long-standing tradition of military service, which dates back to the American Revolution. During his time in the service, he worked in the medical field as an EMT and Ambulance driver.

Bob was a multi-talented individual who pursued diverse occupations. He worked alongside his father as a hatmaker, traveled as a salesman, contributed to the oil field industry, and served as an auto mechanic. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish several successful businesses, including B & B Automotive, ARCO Gas Station, Briar Cliff Fina, and Clardy Auto Service & 24Hr wrecker service. Known for his dedication and honesty, Bob built a reputation for providing stellar workmanship.

Not only was Bob a skilled professional, but he was also passionate about his hobbies. He had a love for fishing and hunting, fully embracing the great outdoors. As a patriot, he held a deep appreciation for his country and its values. Bob cherished his family dearly, finding joy in spending time in the shop with his loved ones. His faithful dog, Midnight, was his constant companion, offering him unwavering companionship and loyalty until his final breath before crossing the rainbow bridge herself to join her master.

Bob's impact extended beyond his professional and personal endeavors. He built a Formula V Race Car for Harvy Simmon, which went on to participate in numerous races, leaving a lasting legacy in the motorsport community.

Robert "Bob" David Clardy will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His memory will be treasured, and his legacy will continue to inspire.

A celebration of Bob's life will be held on Thursday evening December 21, 2023 from 6-8pm at Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust in Denton, TX, with a service beginning at 7pm.  Bob will be laid to rest on Friday at 11am in the Phalba cemetery near Mabank, Texas.
