IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robbie Inez
Nafe
April 27, 1925 – April 23, 2021
Robbie Inez Nafe, 95, born April 27, 1925 and passed away peacefully on April 23, 2021.
She is preceded in death by her husband Donald E. Nafe and grandson Jeffery S. Robison.
Mrs. Nafe is survived by her son Robert E. Nafe and his wife Sharon and her daughter Deborah L. Moseley.
She has 9 grandchildren: Kaye Slaughter, Jason Nafe, Jeffery Robison, Justin Nafe, Stephanie Lazure, Mikeal Robison, Zackary Hauser, Heather Saville, and Nicholas Saville.
Inez had 7 great-grandchildren: Noah Slaughter, Jonathan Nafe, Scott Slaughter, Dallas Hauser, Azrael Saville, Aiden Lazure, and Harper Lazure.
Inez was a very strong woman. She was born in Tennessee to Alfred and Ruby Russel. They lived on a farm and she was the youngest of the four children.
She didn't like to talk about herself much. She would tell of growing up during the Depression with no electricity or running water. She went to a one-room schoolhouse that she had to get to by riding a ferry pulled by a mule. Her family got behind on taxes and lost the farm over $25.00.
She was a modern woman in a lot of ways. Inez did what she had to like lying about her age, so she could start working young. She was on the city council and worked for voter registration. In her later years, she was a cook at Victor's Welding Supplies. She believed that everyone should work and not waste what you had.
She was a very generous person and always put her family's needs ahead of her own. She was a hard person to do things for, and I don't think she realized what a great mentor and role model she was. Inez loved her family and loved playing WordSearch and reading.
When she was 19 years-old, she married Don, who was in the Army. He went off to war. She got on a train to go live with Don's family whom she had never met.
Some fond memories of her: Kaye remembers what fun it was to go spend the summers with them and advice she had when she was older. She loved watching their home movies. Kaye and Debbie were close to the same ages, so Inez would dress them alike and make them doll clothes. Zack said that she made him the man he is today. She loved taking him to Wyatt's Cafeteria. Justin went to stay with his grandparents when his brother broke his leg. She took such good care of him. She loved her grandkids so much. Jason remembers cutting grass for her. What fun he had as a kid, driving a Cub Cadet tractor! They all remember sitting on the front porch, drinking Cokes, and listening to the coyotes. She would even take them to the video store to rent movies. What a treat!
About 16 years ago, Bob and Sharon had the pleasure of her coming to live with them. She worried that she was going to be a burden. She never was, not for a second. Robbie Inez Nafe, you will never be forgotten. We all hope you know how much you are loved.
