Richard Alan Turner, known fondly as Rick, was born on April 3, 1948, in Washington D.C. Rick grew up six blocks from our nation’s Capital. He then moved to Austin, Texas at the age of fifteen. He attended Del Valle High School, graduating in 1967. There, he served as President of the Student Council, played football and ran track. It was during his freshman year he met Beverly, his high school sweetheart.

Shortly after graduating high school, Rick honored his commitment to his country by enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. After undergoing basic training in San Diego, he took a brief respite to marry Beverly on September 30, 1967. Two months later he left for Vietnam. He returned just short of thirteen months and served as a drill instructor in San Diego, until his discharge in 1970.

After his military service, he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Texas State University (formerly Southwest Texas) in 1973. Balancing full–time work and family, he further attained an MBA from The University of Dallas in 1988 and a Juris Doctor degree from Texas Wesleyan University School of Law (now Texas A&M School of Law) in 1998. His academic achievements underscored a disciplined and driven spirit, which carried forward into his professional career in contract negotiations with several organizations including IBM, Perot Systems, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Hewlett Packard, and Unisys. After many years of loyal and dedicated service, Rick retired in 2020.

Rick was deeply involved in his community. Rick served on the Board of Young Life and Highland Village City Council. He volunteered at his church in communion services and donated his legal services to those in need. He was also an active member of the American Legion and the Marine Corps League reflecting his commitment to his fellow serviceman.

His personal life was enriched by his love of family and faith. Most importantly, as a believer in his Lord Jesus Christ, Rick lived a life guided by kindness, faithfulness, and strength. He was thoughtful, he often gifted the family with what he called “Spirit Gifts” and left verses written on sticky notes for Beverly, expressing his love and encouragement. The annual family trips he meticulously planned, especially the cherished journey to Israel, he shared with Beverly. Rick was an avid runner who completed many marathons including the New York, Marine Corps, White Rock, and Rock-n-Roll marathons. He also enjoyed reading, watching the Washington Redskins, Texas Rangers, and Texas Longhorns, supporting Samaritan’s Purse, and enjoying great Mexican food, particularly chips and salsa as a favorite!

Rick, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2026 in Flower Mound, Texas surrounded by the loving presence of his wife. Rick is survived by his beloved wife, Beverly Turner; daughters Shelley Turner and Wendy Turner Pace; son-in-law William Pace; grandsons Liam and Colin Pace; sister-in-law Vicki Rutledge; brother-in-law David Rutledge; nephew Shane Burton; and closest friend and "Lifer" Doug Tennis.
