Richard Thomas Haller, 79, of Argyle, Texas, died Sunday, May 15, 2022 surrounded by his family at his home in Argyle.
He was born on April 1, 1943 in Brooklyn, New York, to George John Haller and Hazel Dorothy (Both) Haller. Richard grew up in Franklin Square, New York with his parents and his younger brother Dan. He graduated from Sewanhaka High School in Floral Park, New York, in 1961. He then began attending Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas as the first person in his family to attend college. While at KSU, he became a proud member of the Beta Sigma Psi where he meant many of his life-long friends. Richard also met his future wife Carolyn Kauffman at Kansas State, and they were married on May 29, 1965 just a week before they both graduated with Bachelor of Science degrees is Business Administration.
After graduation, Richard serviced his country proudly as member of the U.S Army in Vietnam. After coming home, he started working for Liberty Mutual Insurance at the beginning of 1970. He and Carolyn moved to Texas where he worked for Liberty for another 25 years until it was time to retire.
In addition to being an amazing husband, father, grandfather and friend, Richard loved animals, especially dogs and horses, and enjoyed working on his horse ranch in Argyle, Texas and attending car shows with his friends
Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM until the funeral service begins at 2:00 PM Saturday May 21, 2022 at Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust Street, Denton, Texas. Interment will be at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
Richard is survived by his wife Carolyn Haller of Argyle, daughter Kiley Clark and her husband Tom Clark, son Brendan Haller and grandson Anthony Haller, and his brother Dr. Daniel Haller and his wife Eileen.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Wounded Warrior Project.
