Richard Glenn Collins was born in Houston, TX on November 21, 1946 to Bailey Ralph Collins and Jackie Sue Gibbs Collins. He went home to be with the Lord on June 5, 2024.
Richard was raised in Houston, graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School and soon after was drafted into the Army. He was a proud Viet Nam veteran serving in the military from 1967 to 1969. Following the Army, he moved to Denton, TX and attended North Texas State University. Richard called Denton home for the rest of his life. In Denton, he met Brenda Sue Barnett and they married on June 12, 1980 and were married 40 years until her death in 2020.
Richard and his friend started a painting business where he spent most of his career. He loved sports but was passionate about golf. He was a member of Singing Oaks Church of Christ. Richard loved the Lord, cherished his family and friends and will be missed by all who loved and knew him.
Richard is survived by his three children, Kimberly Rauscher of Lindale, TX, Ben Collins and Dean Collins, both of Denton, his sister Cathy Dial of Plano, and his four precious grandchildren, Lillian Grace Rauscher, Stoffel David Rauscher, William Calvin Rauscher and Heidi Annalise Rauscher. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Brenda and his son-in-law Brad Rauscher.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, June 8, 2024 in the chapel of Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust St., Denton, TX. Interment will be at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, TX at 2:30 PM Thursday, June 20, 2024.
