Obituary

Richard Barry Carpenter of Bulverde, Texas breathed his last breath in this world at home surrounded by his wife & loved ones and took his first breath in Heaven on Friday afternoon June 3, 2016. He was 77 years old. He was known to his family and friends as Barry. He was born September 3, 1938 in Wink, Texas to parents Elmer H. Carpenter (Carp) and Maxine Pulley Carpenter.
Barry is survived by: his wife Lindsay Burton Carpenter (the love of his life), sons Richard Barry Carpenter Jr. of Edna, Texas, Bart Paul Carpenter of Atmore, Alabama, step-sons Michael Flowers and Scott Flowers of Bulverde, Texas. Brother, Lane Carpenter of Corpus Christi, Texas and sister, Pamela Carpenter Stimpson & husband Mike of Houston, Texas. Barry had numerous cousins, nephews and nieces who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents E.H. Carpenter and Maxine Carpenter.
Barry lived by the "Golden Rule" as found in Matthew 7:12
12 So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you,
He had a gift for remembering faces, names and dates. Barry was our family historian.
Barry was a boy scout, graduate of Alice High School class of 1957, a yell leader at Texas A & I in Kingsville, Texas. He met the love of his life Lindsey in Alice, Texas when she was 16 and he was 19. But the timing wasn't right. He joined the Army where he served at the American Embassy in Germany. Barry loved to play the guitar and sing. Many of the songs he sang were ones he wrote.
Barry's career was in the oil field supply business. When he retired, he honored his mother and daddy, and was their devoted caregiver for many years.
Barry and Lindsey crossed paths once more Christmas 2005. The sweethearts married and she was his devoted wife and caregiver.
He is going to be greatly missed by those of us still in this world, but we know there was great rejoicing in heaven as our Lord Jesus Christ welcomed Barry home.
A memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 3:00 PM at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home Chapel 705 N. Locust Denton, Texas 76201.
