Obituary

Rebecca Moseley Harpool, 97, of Denton, Texas passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Good Samaritan Village.

Rebecca was born on November 12, 1916 in Quanah, Texas to Bessie Rebecca Judy Moseley and William Alexander Moseley. She was the fourth of the Moseley's six children and was preceded in death by: Margaret Young, Mary Helen Gossett, William Moseley and Eleanor Magruder. Rebecca's surviving sibling, John Moseley, resides in Santa Fe, NM.

Rebecca graduated from Texas Woman's University in 1938 with a degree in Library Science. She was working at the TWU library when she met Tom Harpool, Jr. They married on October 30, 1941 and were married for 67 years until Tom's death in 2009.

Rebecca and Tom lived in their family home on Houston Place in Denton for over 60 years and raised seven children. Rebecca enjoyed cooking, sewing and joined Tom in his love of gardening both at home and in the community. She was especially devoted to community involvement including Ariel Club, Garden Club, Meals on Wheels, Adopt-a-Spot, The Denton Food Bank and was a lifetime member of the Denton Benefit League. She also loved her aerobics classes which she continued until her late eighties. Rebecca and Tom also enjoyed caring for the landscaping at the Denton Women's Club Building for many years.

Rebecca was deeply involved in the life of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church for over 60 years. She enjoyed her Women's Circle, her church family and worked in the library for many years. She especially enjoyed the Christmas Eve Service which her children still attend every year.

Rebecca is survived by her daughter Sally, of Houston; son Bob and wife, Debby of Little Elm; son John of Dallas; daughter Leslie Wefelmeyer and husband, Ron of Houston; grandchildren Richard Allison and wife Jennifer of Houston, Katy Wefelmeyer of Houston, Mariah Gan and Molly Blocker of Dallas; great-grandchildren Susan Rebecca and James Savage Allison of Houston; sisters-in-law Rose Marie Harpool and Opal Harpool of Denton, and many dear cousins, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and her children Susan Harpool Allison, Scott Moseley Harpool and Kirk William Harpool.

After a private burial at Roselawn Cemetery in Denton, a memorial service will be held at the St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 300 W. Oak St. at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 11. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Andrew Presbyterian Church or a charity of your choice.
