Reba "Granny" McConnell Carter, of Denton, Texas, passed away peacefully in her home on January 11, 2024. Reba was born December 30, 1934, in Midland, Arkansas to Fred Eldon and Myrtle Elizabeth (Ratliff) McConnell. She graduated from Mansfield High School in 1951. Reba married Willie "Bill" Farris Carter on June 25, 1955, in Orange, California. She was a homemaker for many years, caring for their children, and later retired from Frank Borman Elementary in Denton ISD as a teacher's aide. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting, baking, making candies and jellies, and traveling with family and friends. She enjoyed watching and playing with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents Fred and Myrtle McConnell; her husband Willie "Bill" Farris Carter; their daughter Tina Minette (Carter) Johnson; her sister Marion Dunn; and her brothers JB, Wilford, Ernie, and Little Bill McConnell.
She is survived by her son Eddie Carter and his wife Melinda; her son Scott Carter; her son Shawn Carter and his wife Lisa; and many beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren; her extended family Jimmy Cross and his wife Sandra and family; her sisters Polly Martin and Linda Clark; her brothers Fred, Mike, and Rod McConnell, as well as many nieces and nephews.
