Raymond Aguilera, age 77, of Lewisville, TX went home to be with the Lord on November 25, 2007.
Raymond was born on June 14, 1930 in Santa Monica, CA to Rufino and Eulalia (later DeRobles) Aguilera.
He grew up in the farming community of Oxnard, CA after his family moved there in 1932 during the height of the Great Depression. Although his family struggled greatly during these hard times, they survived intact and stronger for the experience, a fact that Raymond always credited to the sheer determination, sacrifice and love of his mother.
At the age of 17, he set out on his own for own and worked briefly in Northern California, before coming back to Oxnard where he would stay for several more years.
In the early 1950s he left Oxnard for good and returned to his Santa Monica roots where he first found employment as a landscaper that included work for motion picture stars James Stewart and Richard Widmark. Later he worked in various construction and manufacturing jobs before getting hired at McDonnell Douglas in 1966. At Douglas, he taught himself how to read complex aircraft blueprints and he quickly caught the attention of company executives for his outstanding organizational and productivity achievements while working on DC-10s airplanes. He would remain employed in the aircraft manufacturing industry until his retirement in 1992.
In 1956 he married Felicitas Lopez of West Los Angeles. Although their marriage ended in 1967, it did produce his only two children, two sons, with whom he would share a very close and loving relationship for the rest of his life.
In 1969 he married Ramona Bravo. Together they bought their first house in Norwalk, CA in 1970. They remained married until her death in 1992.
He married long time friend Maria Ruiz in 1993. They moved to Dayton, NV in 1997 then moved to Bellflower, CA two years later. In 2005, they moved to Lewisville. They were inseparable in their 15 years of marriage, and devoted to each other to the end.
Among his passions in life were family, children, football (Seattle Seahawk fan), watching comedies and taking in beautiful scenery. He will be remembered for his happy go lucky spirit, his commitment to his family, and his strong sense of fairness. But most of all for his kind, wonderful sensitive heart and the love he bestowed on others.
He is survived by his loving wife Maria, his son Michael and daughter-in-law Leticia of Salem, OR, son Vincent and daughter-in-law Ai Ping of Portland, OR; sisters Delores Jimenez of Santa Monica and Carmen Amesquita of Los Angeles, Brother Edward DeRobles of Sacramento, CA, 20 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He was buried November 30 at Flower Mound Cemetery in Flower Mound, TX..
