Ralph Frederick Shover, age 54, of Corinth, Texas, passed away suddenly Saturday, December 16, 2006 at a Denton hospital.
Ralph was born April 29, 1952 in Mount Holly, N.J. to John Lawrence Shover, Jr. and Florence Anna Hiittner Shover and grew up in Medford, NJ. He was a graduate of Lenape High School, class of 1971 where he was on the New Jersey State record setting Varsity team for four years. Later he was the coach of the City of Dallas - Dolphins Swim Team from 1993 – 2002. He was a life long member of Marlton United Methodist Church, Marlton, New Jersey. Ralph spent 10 year serving his country in the United States Navy with a tour of duty in Vietnam. After discharge from service he moved to the Dallas area in 1988 and eventually to Corinth in 2005.
Ralph worked as a Human Service Specialist III at FEMA, helping people recover their lives, after disasters. While in service with FEMA he received the Shining Star Award, a Certificate of Appreciation, A Customer Commendation and the Extra Mile Award. Outside work Ralph became an ordained minister, in 1988, with a Doctorate in Theology and had a ministry called "Ark Educational Ministry. He enjoyed building and maintaining the website for this ministry and spreading the faith. He loved being with his family, swimming, camping, the ocean, most outdoor activities and his dog, Ginger.
Ralph married Mollie Ridderbusch at Lake Lewisville, The Colony, June 25, 2004.
Ralph was preceded in death by his father and is survived by his mother of Hammonton, New Jersey, his wife Mollie of Corinth, TX; daughter Heather Williams and husband Lavert of Corinth; sons Wayne Shover and wife Rachel of Camp Pendleton, CA, William Brown and wife Debbie of Crandle, TX, Michael Shover of Crandle, TX and Shawn Crocker of Dallas, TX; two sisters, Debra Langoski and partner Timothy Hogan of Medford, NJ; Diane DeMore and husband Thomas of Austin, TX; fifteen grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors and friends from 7:00 p.m. to
9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home, Lewisville, Texas.
A memorial celebration is planned from 2 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, December 23, 2006 at Lake Lewisville.
