Ralph Glenn Davis, age 63, died peacefully in his home on Monday, December 2, 2013.
Glenn was born to Dr. Ralph Davis and Mrs. Sarah (Gilbreath) Davis on April 29, 1950 in Denton, Texas. He attended Denton schools, graduated from Denton High and attended North Texas State University. He married Cynthia Simpson on April 10, 1976.
Glenn was in the insurance business for over 35 years here in Denton. An avid sports enthusiast, Glenn excelled at golf as a young man. He loved baseball, basketball, bowling and high school football. A talented pianist and musician, he enjoyed all genres of music and loved to regale stories of playing the organ in his band. Glenn always had a quip ready for any occasion, loved to make others laugh and had a way of making others feel good. He also enjoyed model trains, photography and road trips with his family.
Glenn was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Family always came first and was absolutely everything to him. His faith was built upon his testimony of Jesus Christ.
As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints he served a fulltime mission in the Oregon Mission from 1972 to 1974. He continued to serve faithfully until his death.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy Davis, of 37 years; children Jennifer Erin Davis (Joe DeLeon), Marcella Inge Davis, Rebecca Anne John, (Brad John), Mark Glenn Davis (Gabrielle) and Emily Kate Davis; grandsons Ashton Christopher Davis-Boliver, Logan Bradford, Jacob Thomas and James Aaron John, and granddaughter Sarah Lynnaea Davis-Byrd. Other family members include his uncle, Roy G. Gilbreath and family and cousin, Betty Warnack. He will be missed by his family, and many dear and wonderful friends.
Pallbearers include Bob Collins, Clifton Cooper, Mark Davis, Jimmie Jones, Joe DeLeon, Stan Evans, Brad John, and Mike Stolle. Honorary pallbearers include Ashton Davis-Boliver, Wayne Fogus, Matt Gilbreath, Roy G. Gilbreath, Brian Holman and Logan John.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton, TX. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM prior to the service. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, December 5, 2013 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 3000 Old North Rd., Denton, TX. Bishop Brian Holman will officiate the service.
