Obituary

Rachel Lynda Mays, 95, of Denton, died Monday May 16, 2016 at her home in Denton with her daughters at her side.
Mrs. Mays was born on December 1, 1920 in Denton to Emory Smith and Katherine Bryce (Scoggins) Wilkins. She was married to Woodward Jeton Mays on December 25, 1941 in Denton. She graduated from North Texas State University with a teaching degree. In 1952 she unexpectedly found herself breadwinner and head of household for a family of six. Mrs. Mays is survived by her daughters, Peggy Harlan of Del Rio, TX, Penny Dawson of Valley View, TX; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her Husband Jeton Mays, daughter, Sharon Elizabeth Dupree and son, Emory Gregg Mays, and grandson Evan Jeton Dawson .
