Phoebe "Joan" Dooley 82 of Denton, Texas passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 surrounded by her family and friends at Medical City Denton. Joan was born on December 6, 1934 in Aubrey, Texas to Marshall and Helen Martin Sikes. Joan was baptized in 1943 at the age of 9 years old. She married the love of her life, Donald Alfred Dooley on June 18, 1953 at Highland Baptist Church in Denton. They were married for 63 years. Joan was a faithful wife, loving mother to all, grandmother, and devoted friend.

Joan worked for the Gibson Corporation and later in life as Secretary for Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home. Joan had a heart of gold. She was an active member of the Triangle Lions Club. Joan was a church musician who taught herself to play the organ. She played her first church offertory at the age of 10. She faithfully served as church organist for almost 60 years.

Joan is survived by her husband, Donald Dooley of Denton, sons Jerry Dooley of Denton, Jimmy Dooley of Denton, Jeff Dooley and wife Fawnda Dooley of Denton, and daughter, Julie Travis and husband Jim Travis of Sherman, Texas. Joan is also survived by 10 grandchildren, and 15 (plus 3 coming soon) great-grandchildren and many others Joan considered her forever family. She is preceded in death by son, Marshall Joe Dooley and granddaughter Jamie Lynn Bentlage.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2017 from 1:00-3:00 pm at Highland Baptist Church followed by a celebration of her life at 3:00 pm. Rev. Brad Cockrell and Rev. Brandon McCarroll will officiate. She will be laid to rest at I.O.O.F Cemetery in Denton.
