Rev. Philip Ray Smick, retired minister to International students at Denton Bible Church, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 18, 2011 at his home in Corinth. He was born March 3, 1940 in Anna, Illinois to John and Dorothy (Tellor) Smick. He attended public schools and the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL. He was married to Nancy Heimlich on July 15, 1960 in San Diego, CA. He ministered to international students through the mission of ISI (Intl Students, Inc.) from 1970 to 2005 and the last 15 years with Denton Bible Church. His passion was for others to know the Lord Jesus Christ and His Word. He also made several trips to Asia to help train village pastors and this ministry was a highlight of his life.
Rev. Smick is survived by his wife of Corinth; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Suminto Tjahjono of Corinth; son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Tonja of Fairmont, MN; sister, Shirley Weeks of Martin, GA; seven grandsons
A memorial service will be held at the Denton Bible Church Chapel on Friday November 25, 2011 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Jim Hill officiating. Burial was in Roselawn Memorial Park. Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Denton Bible Church Missions.
