Peggy Jo Thurmond Jenkins was born May 15, 1930, at home on the McCurley Prairie in Denton County to Arno Hill Thurmond and Roxanna McCurley Thurmond. She was the 9th child of Arno and Roxanna.
After graduating from Lewisville High School, she married Gene Jenkins on July 31, 1948, they were married 42 years.
After marriage, she worked several jobs until the birth of their first child, Gary, in 1949. At this time, she began the life of a supportive housewife and keeping the books for Gene's business, Gene's Paint and Body shop in Denton, Texas.
She was a member of the Lake Dallas Church of Christ.
She is preceded in death by Arno and Roxanna Thurmond, 6 brothers, Nolan, V.O., Pete, Delmas, Foy and Arno (Booster, Jr.), and two sisters, Margaret and Abbie, and her husband Gene.
She is survived by 3 sons and their wives, Gary and Glenda Jenkins of Alvin, Darrel and Gail Jenkins of Sanger, and Dwayne and Tammy Jenkins of Krum, 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and a host of people blessed by her kindhearted, servant spirit.
Services will be held Friday, October 18, 2024 at the Lake Dallas Church of Christ, visitation will be at 2:00 prior to the service at 3:00. Kent Hall will officiate with words of encouragement from Dustin Jenkins and Larry Shedd.
The burial will be at the McCurley Cemetery on Grandys Lane in Lewisville, Texas.
Pall Bearers will be Logan Milne, Wyatt Milne, Josh Jenkins, Ben Jenkins, Pete Jenkins, and Mike Jenkins.
Honorary Pall Bearers will be her nephews, Jimmy Loyd, Marshall Tunnel, Jerry Thurmond, Tony Thurmond, and Jimmy Wayne Vaughn.
