It should surprise not one person in her life that Patricia Jane Watson Beck died as she lived, passing away on June 24, 2018 with love and the care of others in her heart. She was confident that her glorious afterlife would replicate that which she had prepared for since birth, a belief that was instilled in her by her parents, Frank and Alice Watson.
Pat Beck was a bright and shining star who affected all within her world - church members, friends, students and, of course, her precious family, upon whom her attentions were filled with joy, learning and grace.
She spent almost 60 years as the proud, protective, and giving wife of Dr. Don Edward Beck, sharing many trips into many cultures on the planet. Then, she spent a few years shy of that as nurturing mother to Belinda Jane Beck Richardson and her husband Rob, Don Edward Beck II and his wife Lauren and Matthew Allen Beck. And whether one was a longtime friend or total stranger, Pat couldn't help but boast on her granddaughter Jillian Grace Beck, who shared a relationship with her "Mimi" that was essential to her upbringing.
Pat Beck was a master teacher one who enriched the lives of her students with intelligence and wit. Those in her classes loved her, which certainly enhanced their learning experience as well as their lives after the school bell. For 27 years she worked her classroom magic in the Denton Independent School District. As a tribute to her wisdom and foresight she was asked to help design special educational programs for gifted students. She then helped prepare future class room teachers to teach math and science programs while on the staff of the University of North Texas. Then, in, post retirement, she served for six years on the board of the Denton City-County Day School.
That she now rests with the angels is a given, and, as Heaven offers a state of extreme bliss, she for sure remembers family time at the dinner table with Don Sr., Belinda and Don and their spouses, while she listens to the rapturous music from Matthew's viola and searches, throughout eternity, for the hottest pepper the state of Texas has to offer.
She passed from this life while in the Denton Rehab Center, located two blocks from her historic home on Mimosa Drive. Her family, and many friends from far and near will celebrate her life and times on July 7, at 11 am, Singing Oaks Church of Christ, 101 Cardinal Drive, Denton TX. Visitation with friends and family will follow immediately after the service.
