With great reverence and deep affection, we remember the remarkable life of Patricia Ruth Walters, known to all as Pat, who departed this world on July 11, 2026, in Denton, Texas. Born on October 4, 1951, in Fort Worth, Texas, Pat’s seventy-four years on this earth were lived with an uncommon blend of intellect, gentle humor, and unwavering dedication to those around her.
To know Pat was to witness a life in which intellect and warmth, curiosity and generosity, converged and flourished. Her journey began in Fort Worth, where her innate commitment to scholarship propelled her through her studies at both Baylor University and Texas Wesleyan University. Education was but the first chapter in a life marked by profoundly meaningful contributions to the field of medicine.
Patricia’s professional legacy is indelible. For over three decades, she graced Fort Worth Children's Hospital and later, Dallas Children’s Medical Center with her expertise in inhalation and respiratory therapy for children, running pulmonary function clinics with compassion and precision. Her research efforts led her to author several publications and secure patents that continue to set standards for testing and pediatric care, ensuring that her influence endures in hospitals and clinics to this day.
Her career reached new horizons during the last decade of her working life, when she joined the Clinical Engineering and Regulatory Affairs department for Space Labs Medical in Seattle. There, as a key member of a design team, she dedicated her energy and intellect to advancing pulmonary and telemetry systems—technologies that have since become vital lifelines for countless patients.
Yet, as illustrious as her career was, Pat’s heart belonged equally to those she loved. Retirement called her home to Texas, where she wove herself even more tightly into the fabric of her family. Her bond with her sister grew deeper than ever, and new, long conversations with her “Bubba,” brought great joy and laughter into their lives.
Pat’s warmth lifted every gathering. She leaves behind a cherished constellation of loved ones: her twin brother Michael Walters and Deborah his wife; her younger sister Cindy and her husband Ken Hagge; nephew David Walters and his wife Cristi; niece Julia and her husband Bruce Snyder; nephew James Hagge; great-nieces and great-nephews: Codey Walters and his wife Haley, Ashlyn Walters, Lyla Walters, Tristan Walters, Tyler Raczy, Trevor Raczy, and Jules Snyder. She delighted in watching younger generations flourish, her legacy blossoming anew in each of their lives.
Those familiar with Pat will recall her spirit through the joyful echoes of favorite songs, lively debates, and long rides in a convertible with Peter, Paul, and Mary on the stereo—particularly a rousing rendition of “If I Had a Hammer.” She savored every opportunity for “foodie road trips,” but within the last few years enjoyed Chuy’s as meeting at “Pat’s house for dinner.” But perhaps it was in the depth and candor of her conversations—about Christianity, politics, movies, travels, and the amusements of life—that her luminous presence shined brightest.
Patricia’s passions were as varied as the colors of her beloved hydrangea blooms. She immersed herself in clinical medicine, enjoyed murder-mysteries of the British variety, lost herself in music, and girl chats over Root beer floats. Each pursuit was embraced not for its prestige, but for the pleasure, understanding, and connection it brought to her days and the people in them.
Patricia Ruth Walters will be entombed in a graveside service at Roselawn Memorial Park, 3801 Roselawn Dr, Denton, TX 76207, on July 15, 2026, at 10:00 in the morning, a dignified farewell befitting a life so richly and lovingly led.
In honoring Pat, we recall a woman whose legacy is measured not only in her medical achievements, but in the lasting love she gave her family, the spirited conversations she cherished, and the joy she found in every corner of her wide-ranging curiosity. Her kindness, intelligence, and laughter will live on in all who were fortunate enough to know her.
