Obituary

Patricia Lynn Hatchel Cox, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend went home to her heavenly Father, Friday, November 20, 2020  after a lengthy illness. She was born in Ruston, Louisiana on February 22, 1948 to Joseph Winford Hatchel Jr of DeKalb, TX and Vera Louise Seale of Seale, TX. Patricia attended and graduated from Garland High School and The University of North Texas as a teacher, where she met her future husband, James Neiland Cox Sr. They were married in Hearne, Texas on August 4, 1968. They were married for 52 years until Jim's passing this past September. Together they shared daughters, Amy and Natalie and son, James Jr. Patricia was a elementary school teacher and taught in many Texas school districts. Years later, she went back to college and earned her Master's Degree in Reading Recovery.

Patricia retired to stay at home to enjoy her many grandchildren and great grandson. She was an avid painter, loved antiquing, reading and celebrating the word of God. She enjoyed the fellowship of many of her church friends and their time together. She told and shared many stories of her beloved Grandmother Coie with her friends and family and of her time spent in Calvert and Hearne growing up.

Patricia is survived by her three children , Amy Cox of Denton, Natalie Emert and husband, Wayne, of Bolivar, and son, James Cox Jr and wife, Heather, of Justin. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Chloe Cox of Sanger, Meredith Emert of Sanger, Cole Emert of Bolivar, Clara and Lily Cox of Justin and Great grandson, Jaxon Tinsman, of Sanger. Patricia is also survived by her brothers, William "Bill" Hatchel and his family of Southlake, Mark Hatchel and his family of Arlington, and Rodney Boswell and family of Waco.

Graveside Services will be at Blue Mound Cemetery next to the Blue Mound United Methodist Church of Denton on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at 2 PM. The family has requested that all friends and families wear a mask.
