Patrick (Pat) Henry Hood, 80, of Austin and formerly of Krum, passed away in the presence of his wife on March 7, 2017 at Seton Medical Center in Austin.
He was born September 29, 1936 in Denton County, Texas to John and Ethel (McFadden) Hood. He was a member of the Baptist Church, and was a graduate of Denton High School, the University of North Texas and of the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University.
He was married to Beverly Spath on June 7, 1968 in Sherman, Texas. After spending a number of years in the commercial banking business across Texas, he entered manufacturing, owning and operating first International Muffler Company (IMCO) in Schulenburg, Texas, and later Supreme Products in Waco, Texas, a specialty trailer manufacturer. He was involved daily in business operations until shortly before his death.
He served in the United States Marine Corps, was a 40-year member of the University Masonic Lodge, No. 1190, in Austin, Texas and enjoyed raising Texas Longhorn cattle on his ranch outside of Schulenburg.
Mr. Hood is survived by his wife Beverly Hood of Austin, son Hugh Hood and wife Martha of Waco, and daughter Kelly Couch of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, sister Bettye Jane Cole of Bryan, Texas, nieces, nephews and many other family members and friends.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, March 10, 2017 at Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home, 705 North Locust Street in Denton with a funeral service on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 10:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.
