Obituary

Ovie Mae Pittman Chenault, 98-years young, went home to be with the Lord Saturday evening, January 16, 2010. She was born on her family's farm in Elmdale, Texas, on November 9, 1911, to parents Drewie and Dora Pittman, and grew up attending school in Elmdale where she played on the girl's basketball team. In 1933, she married Lester Chenault in Abilene, Texas, and they had four children. Following his death in 1969, she devoted herself to being a loving and supportive mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. Known to her family and friends as "Granny", she was a member of Farmers Branch Church of Christ where she was known for her warm and loving smile. She is survived by two sons and two daughters; Jerry Chenault, of Arlington, VA, Sue Chenault, of Carrollton, TX, Mickey Chenault and Sherry, of Glenn Heights, TX, and Kay Jehle and Ron, of Keller, TX; six grandchildren; Gerrin Chenault and Robin of Corinth, TX, Colin Chenault and Tricia, of Mansfield, TX; Eric Chenault of Brooklyn, NY; Caleb Chenault and Hillary, of Arlington, TX, Sara Munoz and Gabriel of Arlington, TX, and Jolie Fotoohi and Brandon of Arlington, TX; and six great grandchildren. The family has requested that in lieu of floral tributes, memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society, the Lone Star Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, or to the Haitian Relief Fund of your choice. A memorial service will be held for Granny at 11:00 AM, Friday, January 22, at the Farmers Branch Church of Christ with interment at Hamby Community Cemetery near Abilene at 12:00pm on Saturday.
