OJ Wells, 75, of Denton, TX passed away on September 24, 2021.
OJ was born in Rotan, TX on August 6, 1946 to Odus Neal Wells and Nettie Jewell (Brown) Wells. He is survived by his brother Kenneth Wells, niece Maureen Dewees, nephew Randy Byrd, and niece Tracy Porter. He was preceded in death by his sisters Teddy Ruth Byrd and Ann Byrd.
He lived in several places during his life because his Dad worked on oil leases.
He spent time in Harold, TX, Gainesville, TX, and Callisburg TX, where he played football in high school and worked as a cowboy on a ranch.
OJ was a Marine and saw action in Vietnam. After that, he attended North Texas State University.
OJ worked for Peterbilt, providing training, He travelled all around the US and Canada teaching classes. He loved to travel to Caribbean Islands and pretty much any other island that had warm weather.
OJ loved everything about fishing. Buying equipment, watching TV shows about fishing, and sitting on the boat at the lake were his favorite things to do. Fishing was always a peaceful thing. He has requested that in lieu of a service or burial, he be cremated and have his ashes scattered on the water.
All of those who knew him will miss him dearly. OJ always had a smile and a laugh to share.
