Obituary

Neva Wynelle Ottinger, lovingly known to all as "Nanny," was born June 28, 1934, in Denton County to Alton and Verma Turner. On Saturday, December 13th, she passed away peacefully at home with loved ones by her side. She immediately walked whole and healed in to Heaven and was reunited with her beloved husband, Billy Sam Ottinger, of 62 years in Valley View, Texas.

On April 24, 1953, Neva married Billy Sam in Justin, Texas, beginning a legacy marked by faithfulness, hard work, and unconditional love. Their bond was unmistakable—steady, enduring, and inspiring to all who knew them. They welcomed their one and only son, Brett Ottinger who married Stephenia and enjoyed a long life with their grandchildren and great grandchildren close by. In 2007, Neva and Billy Sam moved from Crossroads to Valley View, where she resided until her passing.

Together, Neva and B operated T&O Gas Station in Crossroads for over 15 years, becoming familiar friendly faces to countless community members. She later continued her work at Ms. Jessie's Beauty School, Aladdin Beauty School, and IBS, where she was cherished for her kindness and work ethic.

Neva's life was filled with simple joys that made her who she was. She never met a garage sale she could pass by, always hunting for hidden treasures and adding to her beloved collection of knick‑knacks. She loved spending time with her family, coloring, and keeping her home spotless—often cleaning up after everyone before they even realized she had moved. Known for always being on the go, she was a proud "busy body," happiest when she had a task to stay busy with or someone she could take care of. She never met a stranger and she considered everyone a friend.

She is survived by her son and daughter‑in‑law, Brett and Stephenia Ottinger of Valley View; and her grandsons, Craig Ottinger of Denton, Monty Ottinger and wife Kara of Springtown, Luke Ottinger of Valley View.

She was a devoted great‑grandmother to Kaeden, Gunner, Gatlin, Kylee, and Nolan Ottinger.

She is also survived by her nephew Bobby Turner and wife Loretta; sisters‑in‑law Shirley Johnson and Dorothy Turner; brother‑in‑law Charles Ottinger and wife Shirley; and several great‑nieces and great‑nephews.

Neva was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Bobby Turner; her husband Billy Sam Ottinger; and her niece Cindy Turner.

Her family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Concho Hearts Hospice for the extraordinary care and compassion shown to her over the last two and a half years.
