Nancy Carolyn McKissack Cantwell was born to Homer Taylor McKissack and Juanita Patterson McKissack in Lubbock,  Texas  January 31, 1933.  She died in Dallas, Texas April 30, 2009 after open heart surgery.  She graduated from Lubbock High School, Texas Tech University and did postgraduate work at Southern Methodist University.  She  married  J  Edward Cantwell in Athens, Texas on December 26, 1959.  She is a member of the First Christian Church.  She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, The Denton County Genealogical Society and Zeta Tau Alpha Society.

A memorial service will be held at 10 A.M. on Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at the First Christian Church, 1203 Fulton St.  Denton,  Texas with Rev. John Burton,   Rev. Dr. Charlotte   Nabors, and Rev. Dr. James Moore, Jr. officiating.  The family will be at the Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton, Texas on Tuesday, May 5, 2009 from 6:00 P. M.  until 8:00 P.M. for visitation.  Memorials may be  made to the First Christian Church.

Mrs. Cantwell is survived by her husband, J. E. Cantwell,  three children: Craig (Valarie) Cantwell, Carol (James) Moore, Jr. and Kathryn (Mark) Youden, and seven grandchildren:  Morgan and Kaelyn Cantwell;   James III, Hannah and Campbell Moore;   and William and Jonathan Youden.
