Obituary

Myron James Borth of Krum, TX, passed away in Denton, TX on January 13, 2017 - his 88 th birthday - following a brief illness.
He was born January 13, 1929, to Herman H. and Annie Kathryn (Ford) Borth near Krum, TX.  Myron was a 4-yr starter on the Krum Varsity Basketball Team and was named Mr. Krum High School in his senior year.
After graduating in 1946, he was offered a scholarship to Texas A&M, deciding however, to pursue his first love, a career in music.
With two of his brothers, Charles and Jerome Borth, Pete Burroughs, and other musicians, Myron played in a country & western band known as the Borth Brothers Band as well as the Range Riders, which were featured on KDNT.  They went to California for a screen test, and while there, their band played in several states.  They left the music business in 1950 after the economy suffered a huge downturn.
Myron then joined the U.S. Air Force and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant.  He was stationed at Carswell AFB in Ft. Worth and Limestone AFB in Maine.  He was honorably discharged in 1954.
After he returned to Krum, he sold cars, worked at Perrin AFB in Denison, TX , which closed, then went to college at North Texas State University, majoring in Physical Education.  He then had a daughter, Myralyne, and a son, Myron James, II, two years later.
In 1962, the music business called again.  Myron, Pete Burroughs, and Jerome Borth formed The Three Guitars .  They recorded several songs, with one reaching the Top 100 in Dallas.  They played many special events, including one for Ross Perot.
He also worked at Texas Instruments in Dallas before becoming a Real Estate Broker at Barry Real Estate in Krum, TX.  He worked for Ms. Billie Barry until she passed away in 2006, and continued in real estate until 2016.
During his many years in Real Estate, Myron also played guitar while accompanying fiddle players in as many Fiddle Contests as he could attend.  He often played alongside the infamous "Texas Shorty".
Myron is predeceased by his parents, four brothers - Roland, Aaron, Charles, and Jerome Borth, and one niece, Nicky Jean Borth. He is survived by his brother, W. R. (Nickie) Borth of Krum; his daughter, Myralyne Fleming of Oklahoma City; a son, Myron James Borth, II of Cincinnati, OH; three grandchildren, Connor Woodard, Taylor Woodard, and Colton Fleming, of OKC; several nieces and nephews, and one cousin.
Myron was a member of the East Side Church of Christ.
Services will be held Tuesday, January 17, 2017, at the Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home Chapel, 705 N. Locust in Denton, TX at 2:00 p.m.  Burial is to follow services at Jackson Cemetery in Krum, TX.
