Obituary

Murray Coleman Followill Sr. of Justin, a loving husband and father, joined his Lord and Savior on July 29, 2010. Murray was born in Hood County, Texas August 25, 1928 and was preceded in death by his parents Lionel Oscar and Winnie Edna (Bobo) Followill, brother Leo Hartsell Followill, sister Mary Ruth Wilson and four children. He is survived by his wife of 41 years Melba Jo, five children, Gwen, Murray Jr., Stephen, Michael and Mark and also four grandchildren. Murray proudly served in the United States Navy, receiving a World War II Victory Medal for active duty in 1945 and 1946 aboard the USS Montague and a Korean Service Medal for active duty in 1951 and 1952 aboard the USS Gen. J.C. Breckenridge. He was honorably discharged in 1954. Murray worked as a radio announcer and newsman in Dallas, Sherman, Tyler, Roswell, NM and Chicago and as an HVAC engineer in Dallas for over 30 years. Visitation will be at Mulkey- Mason Funeral Home in Denton from 4 P.M. to 5 P.M. Sunday August 1st. Graveside services will be at 11 A.M. Monday August 2nd at Evergreen Cemetery in Lipan, TX with Reverend Kay Seitz presiding. Online condolences may be offered at mulkeymasondenton.com.
