Minnie Kathryn (Kate) Lowke Schwegler passed peacefully from this life the morning of December 29, 2010. She was born on March 10, 1910 in Vernon, Texas, the youngest daughter of Andrew Aurhur and Josephine Els Lowke. She grew up in Vernon where she attended local public schools and was a member of St Paul Lutheran Church. Her special interest was singing; she took voice lessons as a young lady and was blessed with a beautiful soprano voice and participated in many choral and solo singing events throughout her life. She married Erwin Schwegler on September 2, 1939. She moved with her husband and family to Denton, Texas in 1967 where she was a member of Lamb of God Lutheran Church in Flower Mound, Texas.

She is survived by two children, Josephine Schwegler of Denton, Texas and Erwin (Betty) Schwegler of Los Alamos, New Mexico, two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Graveside services will be held at Eastview Memorial Park in Vernon, Texas at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, January 4, 2011. Pastor Douglas Escue of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Santa Fe, New Mexico, will be officiating. Visitation will be at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton, Texas on Sunday, January 2, 2011 from 3:00PM to 5:00 PM.
