Obituary

Mildred Joy Whitlock Hanna, 81 of Sanger, passed away Monday, September 12, 2005 at Denton Regional Medical Center.

She was born on a leap year, February 29, 1924 in Tishamingo, OK, to Arthur and Bess Whitlock. She was a seamstress for several years working in Denton and Houston garment factories. Since retiring, she enjoyed RV traveling and being a homemaker. She was multi-talented doing everything from fishing and gardening to crocheting afghans for friends and family. She was a caring, loving mother who worked hard to provide for her children. She was a member of the Green Valley Community Church.

Funeral Service will be 2 PM Thursday September 15, 2005 at the Green Valley Community Church on FM 2153. Pastor Wendall Lillard will officiate. Burial will be at the Green Valley Cemetery next to the Church.

Visitation will be Wednesday night 6:30 to 8:00 pm September 14, 2005 at the funeral home.

Survivors include husband Joe Hanna of Sanger, daughter and son-in-law Reta and John Fred Duncan of Denton, and son C.J. Meador of Phoeniz, AZ; three step-daughters, Roma Roberts of Long View, Helen Giese of Sanger, and Jo Ann Powell of Fruitvale; 17 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; two sisters, Fern Hanna of Dallas and Nell Zackery of Green Valley, and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Brent Duncan, Derrick Roberts, David Roberts, Danny Cisneros, Chad Giese, and son-in-law Tony Roberts.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Green Valley School Historical Society, Inc. P.O. Box 982, Denton, Texas 76202 will be acknowledged.
