Mildred Heath Parker, age 91, of Lewisville, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 28, 2007, surrounded by loving family members. She was born July 16, 1915 in Lewisville, Texas to John Crawford Heath and Ethel Mitchell Heath, both also born in Lewisville. Mildred married her high school sweetheart Edward Alvin Parker, who preceded her in death in 1994.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Lewisville, Order of Eastern Star Lodge #777 in Irving, and a member of the UAW Retirees Local #848. Mildred was somewhat an early pioneer of equal rights for women, having won in the late 60's a class-action lawsuit against her employer requiring equal pay for women doing the same job as men. She retired after 20 years with LTV (Vought Corporation) and spent the following years gardening, fishing at the Texas coast, and RV traveling with husband Alvin.
A few of Mildred's favorite things were: her grandchildren (and their children); all babies; any family gathering; playing "42"; the Texas Rangers; and reading her Bible every day. She was loved and will be missed by her family and friends.
Mildred is survived by her children, Barbara Kirkland and husband Foy; Lynwood Parker and wife Wanda; Patricia Straw and husband Bill; and Beverly Hamilton and husband Monty; 10 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and 9 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Friday, June 1, 2007 at Mulkey-Mason Chapel in Lewisville. Interment will follow at Old Hall Cemetery in Lewisville. Reverend Truett King will officiate the service. Music will be provided by Billy Edwards, a family member. The family requests memorial contributions be made to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital, 2222 Welborn St., Dallas, Texas, 75219.
