Mildred Lowrie Hensley passed from this life on June 21st, 2014. She was born March 29, 1923 in Prairie Hill, Limestone County, TX. Mildred's parents were Virgil Austin Lowrie and Gertrude Forrester Lowrie. She was the wife of L.T. Hensley for over 63 years. Lloyd and Floyd Hensley are sons of Mildred and L.T.
Mildred was a resident of Denton, TX since 1963. The family moved from Atlanta, GA to purchase and manage Jay's Grill on Fort Worth Drive. In 1977, L.T. and Mildred opened T & Sons on the Denton Square. This was a favorite hunting, fishing and archery business for many people. She loved the involvement of their sons, Lloyd and Floyd in the business for the 28 years they operated the store. They enjoyed the many customers and friends they served in the business. Mildred was employed by Denton State School from 1973 to 1987. She retired from Denton State School but continued to serve as a volunteer along with other friends she made while working and volunteering there.
Mildred and L.T. were members of First Baptist Church, Denton. She participated in the ladies Bible Study group and all other activities of the church and Sunday School class.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Denmore Lowrie and L.T. She is survived by her brother, Virgil Arlen Lowrie and his wife Lee; her sons and wives, Lloyd and Shirley, Floyd and Sherri; grandchildren, Alcie and husband Ed Massman, Cade and wife Shakira Hensley, and Aaron Hensley; great grandkids Adam and Ben Massman, Kyson and Kezra Hensley.
Visitation for Mildred is Tuesday, June 24th 5-7 p.m.at Mulkey Mason Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust. Services will be Wednesday, June 25 at 11a.m. at Cindy Nichols Chapel of the First Baptist Church, 1100 Malone St. and graveside service will be in Prairie Hill, TX.
