Milburn (Gene) Jackson, formerly of Lewisville, Texas, passed away May 20, 2009 in Worthington, Ohio after a lengthy illness. Gene was born in 1929 in Coleman, Texas and raised in Iowa Park, Texas. After he served in the US Army in Korea as an MP, he returned to Texas and graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in business. He had a successful career as a Human Resource Manager with Diamond Shamrock and Occidental Petroleum. His career took him to Alabama, Delaware, Ohio, New York and back to Texas, where he retired in 1992. Gene was a dedicated and faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Lewisville. He was an avid reader. He also enjoyed gardening, fishing and creative projects around the house.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Lois Jackson and sister, LaCreta Samuelson. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Wanda Jackson; children: Janet (Bill) Merkel of Woodstock, GA, Terry (Toni) Jackson of Newark, DE, Karen (Jim) Lisa of Hockessin, DE, Amy (Phil) Brown of Powell, OH, and eight grandchildren. He is also survived by his twin brother Wilburn Dean Jackson, Pasadena, Texas.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 27, 9:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Lewisville with funeral service to follow at 10:00 a.m. Internment in Highland Cemetery, Iowa Park, at 3:00 p.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations made be made to fund Alzheimer's research.
