IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mickey Lee
Roachell
April 21, 1932 – June 28, 2020
LAKE DALLAS, TX - Mr. Mickey Lee Roachell, Age 88, of Wilmar, AR died due to a lengthy illness on June 28, 2020 early morning. A native of Drew County, AR, he was the son of the late Clarence Cleveland Roachell Sr. and the late Zelma Lee Wardlow Roachell.
Survivors include his wife Oretha Jackson Roachell (who in his words was not FOR SALE, FOR TRADE or GIVE AWAY because she was faithful to stand by his side); seven children Vickie Roachell Long of Branson, Missouri and Janice Roachell Shultz of Monticello, Arkansas; Larry Ervin, Glen Ervin of Oklahoma, Ricky Ervin of Texas, Debbie Collins Albin of Louisiana and Celesta Douglas of Texas. Three brothers Clarence Cleveland "Scoot" Roachell Jr. of Texas, Teddy R. Roachell of California, Tim Roachell and wife Peggy of Arkansas and sister Linda Martin and her husband John of Monticello, AR. He leaves behind many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and several great great-grandchildren. (Vickie has 2 daughters, 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild and Janice has 1 daughter, 2 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, Larry has 5 daughters and 2 sons, 19 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, Glenn has 3 daughters 3 sons and 5 grandchildren, Rickey has 4 boys and 7 grandchildren, Debbie has 5 boys and 1 daughter, 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren).
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife and mother of two daughters, Naomi McDermott Roachell, his brother Jack Wayne "SHORT" Roachell, two sisters Charlene Roachell Heath and Margie Roachell Dallas.
He served his country in the United States Army as a Sgt. during the Korean War. There were stories he'd tell of how his life was spared that were truly miraculous. He gave honor to God. He was honored to serve his country.
He was a carpenter by trade and also a minister of the Gospel. He was truly a scholar of the Bible. He evangelized in his early days of ministry and won many souls to Christ. He and his wife Oretha became pastors of a faithful congregation of people for 35 years at Florence Independent Assembly in Florence Arkansas. There's no doubt that his example of serving Jesus affected and influenced many lives for the Kingdom of God.
Most that knew him knew his love for sports. In his 20's he was offered baseball contracts with both the Cardinals and Yankees. It was in his spring training that he decided to go back home to his wife and two children. Choosing God and his family over baseball.
He was always competitive in game playing. He loved to play dominoes, cards and was always determined to win. Family and friends that experienced the games with him knew that determination. He enjoyed competing on the church league softball teams. One of his passions was to deer hunt and he always succeeded with his limit. The same with his love to fish. He knew how to catch fish even when most said they weren't biting. He'd manage to bring home a good mess of fish.
The graveside service will be held July 1, 2020 at 2 p.m. in Van Alstyne Texas. There will be graveside visitation between 1-2 p.m. Rev. Kenny Martin from Hope AR. will be officiating services.
