Michael Joseph Miller, 49, passed away on August 8, 2014, along with his wife, LeAnn Kaye (Lieber) Miller, 48, daughter, Zoey Alexa Miller, 12, and son, Miles Austin Miller, 8, near Bloomfield, NM. Mike and his family were residents of Argyle, TX.
Mike was born on September 24, 1964, in Pittsburg, PA, to William G. Miller and Nancy L. Miller. He was the second of four children. After multiple residences in the Northeast United States in his early childhood, he moved to Richardson, TX (suburb of Dallas, TX), in 1975. He continued to live in locations around the Dallas area throughout the rest of his life.
Mike attended high school at Berkner High School in Richardson. Upon graduation, he attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX, and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management in 1987. He was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity.
Upon graduation from college, Mike excelled in the management of the Miller-family-owned McDonald's restaurants. Mike left the family business in 1996 to go into the staffing and recruiting field. Over the next eight years, Mike worked his way up to Managing Partner for Kaye/Bassman International. In 2004, he moved to Gillham, Golbeck & Associates for the next nine years as Vice President. His success in the talent search field led him to starting his own staffing/recruiting business, MM Search Group, in 2013.
In business, sports, and life, Mike's drive and energy allowed him to achieve great things. Mike never met a stranger. He made everyone around him comfortable, and had a presence that one felt commanded to follow. He had the ability to be anyone's coach, yet also be their strongest cheerleader. His constant encouragement made those around him strive for things inside themselves that they did not know were there. He made everyone around him a better person.
Mike was survived by his daughter, Macy Miller, from his previous marriage to Kari McKee Reed; stepson, Cory Dixon; parents, William and Nancy Miller of Mt Vernon, TX; sister, Michele (Robert) Taylor of Allen, TX, niece Megan Fischman, nephew Andrew Fischman; brother, David (Liz) Miller of Agoura Hills, CA, nephews Jackson Miller, Duncan Miller, Hudson Miller, and Truman Miller; brother, Joel (Jesse) Miller of Houston,TX, niece Avery Torres, and nephew Cameron Miller; aunts and uncles: Tom and Robin Greene of McKinney, TX; Kim and Nancy Greene, Aurora, CO; Pat and Brenda Greene of Richmond, TX; and numerous cousins.
Please join family and community in a celebration of life for Mike, LeAnn, Zoey, and Miles at the Argyle High School Cafeteria and Auditorium from 5:00-7:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2014. In lieu of plants and flowers, the family has set up a memorial fund at Chase Bank (Account #3018017599). The donation will go to Argyle ISD to build a new school playground in memory of the Miller Family. Donations may be mailed or dropped off at any Chase Bank branch.
