Michael Lane Hamilton
Michael Hamilton, age 58, of Lake Dallas passed away on Monday November 2, 2009 at Denton Good Samaritan Village after a three year battle with cancer.
He was born January 7, 1951 in Dallas to Donald W. and Margaret Jane Hamilton. He grew up in Denton and was a 1969 graduate of Denton High School. He attended N.T.S.U.
Mike's career spanned 40 years with varied companies and positions. He first worked at Morris-Irick Woodworks, in Denton as a cabinet maker. After earning his pilots license, he was assistant manager at the Decatur Municipal Airport, where he also did aircraft construction and flew charter flights. His hobby of racing Radio Controlled model cars led to his next position with Traxxas Radio Controlled Models, in Dallas. He was a design engineer and worked in research and development. A final move led him to CoreMax Aerospace, in Denton where he did FAA certified design, engineering and fabrication of custom interiors for private jets.
Mike enjoyed music, woodworking, flying (including RC model airplanes and helicopters), racecars, animals and fishing. He made his home in Lake Dallas where he was never far from his boat or a fishing line.
He is survived by his mother Jane, of Denton; brother and sister-in-law Jeff and Janet Hamilton of Orange, TX; sister and brother-in-law Lynne and Gay Leake of Denton; niece, Sally Hamilton of Irving; nephews, J.J. Hamilton of Orange and Casey Leake of Denton. Also surviving are aunt and uncle, Betty and Maurice Schnorr of Dallas. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald.
Visitation will be Saturday, November 14, 2009 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. in the Chapel. Memorials may be made to The American Cancer Society, Habitat for Humanity or the Lake Dallas Animal Shelter with checks made payable to City of Lake Dallas.
