Melisa Rose Crider passed away Oct. 7, 2023, at age 42 in Denton, Texas.

She was born May 15, 1981, to Danny Rose and Mickey Mattern Rose in Miami, Florida.

Melisa grew up in Norman, Oklahoma, and stayed in her hometown to attend the University of Oklahoma.

Melisa married Matthew Crider on June 5, 2004, and received her bachelor's degree in elementary education the following year.

Melisa completed her training and strived to teach young children, but chronic, painful illness prevented her from entering the profession.

Melisa and Matt moved from Norman to Denton in 2008, as Melisa continued to fight for better health.

Melisa loved her dogs and cats and volunteered to find homes for rescued basset hounds. She loved travel and food adventures, and she built a community of friends through her crafting hobbies.

Melisa is survived by her husband, Matthew David Crider, of Denton; her parents, Danny and Mickey Rose, of Oklahoma City; her sister, Amy Rose Poe, and brother-in-law, Barry Poe, of Wellston, Oklahoma; nieces Walker and Raylee; and the Crider, Dubberke and Stewart families, who loved her.

Melisa was preceded in death by her beloved grandmother, Geri Allen.

A memorial service for Melisa will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, 2023, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 633 Hobson Lane in Denton.
