Melba Jean Norman, 81, of Denton went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, August 13, 2010 at Presbyterian Hospital of Denton, surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 27, 1928 in Krum, TX to William Pearlie and Eunice Leola (Gray) Smith. She was a graduate of Krum High School and attended North Texas State University (UNT). She married J. H. "Doodle" Norman on May 4, 1947. She was his best friend, soul mate, wife, and fishing partner for 63 years. She loved to go camping and fishing, always making sure you knew that she had caught the biggest fish. Melba was an amazing mother to her four sons and their families, always there when any of them needed her. She was a member of the Highland Baptist Church, where she was a mighty prayer warrior and tireless servant of others. She walked daily with the Lord, and wore out many a Bible. Melba was retired from the Denton Record Chronicle as a Paper Carrier for twenty-five years. She raised her sons and a few grandchildren while driving and delivering papers in the wee hours. She leaves each of us with precious memories and great wisdom, and we will never forget her.
