Maureen Ojeda Varnes, 69, of Denton, died Sunday, January 31, 2016 at her home at Robson Ranch. Mrs. Varnes was born on October 20, 1946 on Brooklyn, NY to Pedro and Martha (Aberth) Ojeda. She was married to Larry Varnes on September 2, 1989 in Los Angeles, CA. Maureen was very active in the Robson Ranch community, where she was a member of the "Material Girls" (a sewing group); "The Lady Niners" (a lady's golf club) and stayed active in the wood shop. She was a member of Denton Bible Church. Maureen is survived by her husband, Larry Varnes of Denton; daughters, Vanessa Burnaby of Redmond, WA, Jaime Carlson of Santa Monica, CA, Kristy Sundberg of West Hills, CA; son, Ken Varnes of Hollister, CA; sisters, Dolores Proiette of Flagstaff, AZ, Louise Prowell of Tuscon, AZ; brothers, Pete Ojeda of Lake City, FL, Joe Ojeda of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren, Mason Burnaby, Raif Burnaby, Annika Sundberg, Ella Sundberg, Lena Sundberg, Anders Sundberg, Jake Varnes, Kylie Varnes. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 20, 2016 in the chapel at Denton Bible Church, 2300 E. University Dr., Denton, TX. Rev. Tom Nelson will officiate the service.
