PIERCE, Mattie Frank Adair born January 2, 1916 in Blum, Texas, passed away April 19, 2015. She married Wilford Pierce in 1936, and they were happily married until his death in 1995. Together they owned and operated Pierce's gift shop, "Come In And Browse Around", which became an institution in Denton. A 1936 graduate of Texas Woman's University, she was very active in her church, where she taught Sunday School for over 60 years. Her community activity included the Emily Fowler Award for her service to the Denton Public Library.
She is survived by three sons, John F. Pierce and his wife Lucille of Dallas, Michael D. Pierce and his wife Irma of Stephenville, and Jack A. Pierce and his wife Susan of Asheville, North Carolina, 8 grand children, 3 great-children.
Visitation will be Wednesday 5-7 PM at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home, 705 North Locust, Denton; funeral service at 11 AM on Thursday, April 23, 2015 in the Chapel of the First Baptist Church, 1100 Malone St., Denton.
