Matthew Harrell Mulkey of Argyle, Texas was born July 6, 1968, to Robert J. and Louise Harrell Mulkey, in Amarillo Texas. He passed away on November 30, 2023, at Presbyterian Hospital in Denton, Texas after a brief illness.  He grew up in Panhandle, Texas, participating in football and track, as well as the Spanish Club, and played trombone in the Panhandle Panther Band.   He graduated from Panhandle High School in 1986 as salutatorian of his class.  Matthew attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock, graduating with a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Finance.  He worked for more than 40 years for several vehicle financing companies, some in their start-up phase.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Sawyer Kate Mulkey, of Ponder, Texas; father of Panhandle; grandparents Glynn D and Sybil Harrell of Groom, Texas; and Drew and Mittie Mulkey, from Lyons, Georgia.

He is survived by a daughter Harper Grace Mulkey, of Austin Texas; mother; sister Sara and Steven Hightower from Bushland, Texas; and brother Jeremy and Mande Mulkey from Panhandle, Texas. He will be missed by nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

Memorial service will be held Saturday, December 9, 2023, at the Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home in Denton, Texas, at 10:00 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his name to Carson County Square House Museum, PO Box 276, Panhandle Texas, 79068, or Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Denton.  Private burial will be In Panhandle at a later date.
