Obituary
Mary Ruth White Trueblood was born November 26, 1936 to James Clayton White and
Estalena Helm White in a little white house that used to sit on the corner of what's now Teasley and Wind River. She was the oldest child and is survived by siblings Jimmie
White and his wife Shirley, Patsy Davis and her husband Dan and Bobby White. She was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy.
In 1955, she married Thomas Trueblood and they were married nearly 52 years. They had 3 children: Thomas Jr, Shauna and Sharla and she loved them all greatly, maybe one of them more than the other but we are not telling.
She graduated from Denton High School when it was on Congress. Mary worked for King's Appliances on the Denton Square and later helped bake cakes for her friend at Jean's Cake Shop in Lewisville. She was an avid Farmer's football fan and made Farmer games for over 20 years.
Her husband's family, the Truebloods (Monds, Bryums, Caseys, Godfreys & Gaitley, etc.) were as close to her as her own family and back when families took real vacations, they drove every summer to North Carolina for a huge family reunion with the "Texas
Cousins".
She was a fabulous cook and published her own cookbook for family. She made huge platters full of candies for her husband and children's offices every Christmas. If you asked someone today, most would remember her for the food always served in quantity with old Southern style like fried chicken or chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and gravy, mac & cheese or potato salad (some without onions for Sharla), cinnamon pickles or tomato salsa.
But then there were the grandchildren: Trey, Callie and Cole. She played cards and made movies and baked cakes and left funny messages on their phones and let them eat cake icing out of the bag, and loved them. And they loved her back.
Mary passed away peacefully on August 4, 2012 of an extended illness. Visitation will be
at the funeral home from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, August 6, 2012 and interment will be at Old Alton Cemetery at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, August 7, 2012.
Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
