Mary Louise Stephenson, 95, of Denton, died Saturday November 8, 2014 at Sandy Lake Rehabilitation and Health Center in Coppell.
Mrs. Stephenson was born on June 24, 1919 in Beaumont, TX to Robert L. and Betty Belle (Nale) Keith. She was married to Thomas Ronald Stephenson on November 26, 1947 in Los Angeles, CA. She graduated from North Texas State Teachers College, graduating magna cum laude with degrees in English and Spanish. She worked as a code breaker from 1942 until 1947during WWII for the National Security Agency. Mary was a great teacher of not only public education, but strength and grace as well. She and her husband owned and operated a floral shop in Jacksonville for many years.
She is survived by her daughters, Deborah M. Landis of Denton, Mary Kathleen Cohen of Hull, MA, Barbara McGinnis of Fort Worth; sons, William H. Stephenson of Jacksonville, Thomas R. Stephenson of Jacksonville; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 13, 2014 in the chapel of Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home.
