Mary Alice Sharpless
Mary Alice "Peachie" Crosby Sharpless, 77, of Denton, died Saturday, February 19, 2022, at home surrounded by her family in Denton. Mary was born on February 13, 1945, in Dallas to Alvin Lionel and Thelma Dorothy (Dodd) Crosby. She worked for Victor Equipment in Denton for many years.
Born in Dallas and raised in Roanoke, TX, Mary attended Northwest School where she was known by her nickname "Peachie". Mary was a member of the Northwest High School drill team as a fire baton twirler of the Majorettes. She married Clyde Sharpless and raised three children together. Mary loved entertaining family and friends in her home. Her home was known as the place for her children and friends to hang out after ball games, as she always had homemade pizzas fresh out of the oven awaiting their arrival. Mary and her friends developed lifelong relationships that have stood the test of time.
Growing up on a farm, Mary developed a strong work ethic, and love of animals that she passed on to her children. She was know as saying "If you have time to lean, you have time to clean". If you were working with Mary, you were to stay busy, no time for resting. Mary always had pets that were treated as members of the family. Horses, cattle, dogs, or cats they were all happy to receive her attention and loving care. Mary believed Red Birds were a sign from heaven that a loved one was thinking of you, we will always think of her when we see them.
But Mary was best known for her sweet nature, and her resemble to Paula Deen. Mary appreciated the precious moments God gave her and she used them for good, sharing her love and friendship with her classmates who were lifelong friends, her family, many friends, neighbors, and those with whom she enjoyed games of cards and road trips.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Janice Shelton of Denton, Lana Sharpless of Denton; son, CJ Sharp of Cleburne; sister Christine "Cookie" Estes of Rhome; brother Carl Krone of Dallas; grandchildren, Terry Shelton, Jason Reaves, Dylan Sharp, and many other family members and friends.
