Mary Novalene Phillips, 78, of Denton, died Saturday December 2, 2006 at Presbyterian Hospital of Denton.
Mrs. Phillips was born on September 9, 1928 in Oran, TX to Edgar Higgins and Lillie (Leatherwood) Sampley. She attended school in Crafton and graduated from Chico High School. She was married to Edgar Elmer Phillips on May 15, 1947 in Jack County. Upon retirement from the kitchen at Texas Womans University she owned and operated the Krum Cafe for many years. She was a Hamm Radio Operator and a member of the Gateway United Baptist Church.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Friday December 8, 2006 at Gateway United Baptist Church, 2401 N. Bell Ave., Denton, TX. Rev. Buddy Owens will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Crafton Cemetery, Crafton, TX. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM December 7, at the funeral home.
Survivors include her sons, Eddie Phillips of Queensland, Australia, Larry Phillips of Denton, James Phillips of Sanger; brother, Harlon Sampley of Sanger; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; she was preceded in death by her sisters, Eudean Levalle and Letha Mullennix.
