Mary Ruth Armstrong, 88, of Schertz, TX, formerly of Denton passed away on Monday, January 16, 2012 in Schertz. She was born January 28, 1923 in McKinney TX to Willie and Ada (Davidson) Gaulden. She attended McKinney public schools. She was married to E. A. "Al" Yates on Aug. 28, 1940 and he preceded her in death on December 11, 1960; she then married Dr. L. L. Armstrong on June 20, 1965 in Denton, he preceded her in death on September 23, 1988. She was a homemaker and a very active member of the First Baptist Church of Denton.
Mrs. Armstrong is survived by a son Ron and his wife Charlotte Yates of Schertz; step daughter, Linda Kay Thomas of Austin; sisters, Myrt Lemon of Mineola, and Betty Walley of Denison; four grandchildren, Corey, Monty, April, and Cameron and six great- grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a son Gary Yates, six brothers and three sisters.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, January 21, 2012 in the First Baptist Church, 1100 Malone St., Denton, with Rev. Rick Ingle and Rev. Cliff Feeler officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. The family will be at the Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton on Friday, January 20, 2012 for visitation from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. for visitation. Memorials may be made to Ann's Haven Hospice, or First Baptist Church.
